沈陽理工大學外國語學院始建于1979年，前身為沈陽工業學院外語教研室，外語部，外國語分院，2004年5月學校更名後正式命名為沈陽理工大學外國語學院。雖然學院的發展隻有不足30年的曆史，但是在學校黨委的正确領導下，在學院曆屆領導班子的帶領下，在全體教職員工的支持下，沈陽理工大學外國語學院銳意進取，開拓創新，取得了驕人的業績。

師資力量

外國語學院現有教職工98人，有教授2人，副教授17人，講師47人，助教25人；具有碩士學位的35人，碩士在讀34人。學院下設9個教研室和2個研究所，開設了英語專業和俄語專業，承擔全校本科生、英語專業學生、俄語專業學生以及研究生的外語教學任務。

辦學條件

學院教學條件良好，具備比較完備的教學和試驗設施。學院現有3間多媒體教室，3間現代化數字語言實驗室，1間同聲傳譯室和1個計算機機房。學院圖書資料室共有圖書及音像資料近3000冊（盤），供本學院教師和學生使用，為外語教學及教學研究提供了堅實的資料保障。

學院确立了“以大學公共外語教學為重點，以外語專業建設為主線，深化外語教學改革，培養高素質應用型外語人才”的教育理念，在工作實踐中始終堅持三突出，即：突出公共外語教學的核心地位，突出英語專業和俄語專業的人才培養特色，突出本科教學質量的中心地位，在多年的教學實踐中取得了較為顯著的成果。

學院堅持以科研促教學，鼓勵教師把科研成果應用到教學實踐中。近年來，學院先後完成或在研國家級、省級、校級的研究項目26項，其中，國家級5項，省級6項，橫向課題4項，校級11項。公開發表學術論文127篇，其中核心期刊61篇。組織和參編字典、教材、教參、譯著等多種專業書籍共37部。 2006年外國語學院憑借自身的科研水平和實力，參加了普通高等教育“十一五” 國家級規劃教材《新通用大學英語》立體化系列教程的編寫項目組，并組織編寫了《大學英語閱讀教程1》，現已出版使用，反饋良好。

學院注重加強職業道德和師德建設，提高教師教學、科研的事業心和責任感，在全院形成了愛崗敬業、嚴謹治學、為人師表、勤奮工作的良好院風。2006年3月，外國語學院俄語專業教研室榮獲沈陽市總工會“五朵金花式建功立業标兵崗”榮譽稱号；2006年11月，外國語學院榮獲沈陽市教科文衛系統職業道德建設“十佳集體”的榮譽稱号；2006年12月，外國語學院榮獲“沈陽市職工職業道德建設先進集體” 榮譽稱号，2007年5月，外國語學院榮獲“沈陽市五一勞動獎狀” 的榮譽稱号。

學院重視開展學術交流活動，多次選派教師前往美國、英國、俄羅斯等國家學習、訪問，進行學術交流，不僅開闊了眼界，而且加強了師資隊伍的建設。
