青儲機由電機（柴油機或輪式拖拉機）作為配套動力，将動力傳遞給主軸，主軸另一端的齒輪通過齒輪箱、萬向節、鍊條等将通過調速的動力傳給壓料輥，當待加工的物料經輸送帶進入上下壓料輥之間時，被壓料輥挾制并以必定的速度送入鍘切構造切碎後，由高速旋轉的刀盤通過出草口抛出機外。
