清道夫可以跟小型觀賞魚混養，但是需要注意幾點：
1、 清道夫體型不要跟觀賞魚相差太大，由于清道夫有吸附其它魚皮膚體液的習慣，清道夫太大會對其它魚造成損傷；反之，清道夫太小會成為食物；
2、 不要把清道夫跟金魚混養，金魚體态臃腫，遊動緩慢，被清道夫黏上，輕則體表破損發炎，重則一命嗚呼；
3、 清道夫本身也是生物，也需要進食和排洩，隻要你細心觀察就會發現，他們經常跟其他魚一樣吃餌料、拉便便，所以真正有效的清潔方法還是要加強魚缸本身的過濾。
